Portrait
In the early days of photography people had to help their models to obtain a sharp portrait. The exposures were long and the model had to be still. Photographers used different kinds of tricks, like hidden supports, to keep the models still.
I started recently to explore portraits using long time exposures. I don’t help my models by using tricks. I let them choose a position that they must hold for 30 minutes. I then start the exposure. It’s a difficult exercise for the model (I know because I’m one of them). I tried 2 different portraits: one in which Francis didn’t move (or tried to) and one in which I read a book. Both of them show blurry regions, but they are more explicit in the second one.
